
CASE STUDY - DERMATECH SKINCARE
Dermatech is a New Zealand manufacturing company with a specialised range of cosmeceutical skincare treatment products and advanced technologies.
They engaged us to design and develop a new brand identity, packaging designs and an e-commerce website to market and sell a full range of products.

The brief was to design a simple brandmark to function as a flexible brand asset across all of their products, followed by a complementary logotype to accompany it.
For the mark, I created a geometric pattern — a D-shaped motif formed from smooth, symmetrical curves. The result feels technology-led: structured yet gentle, evoking a calm, soft, and soothing impression.
Reminiscent of a fingerprint, the repeating geometric lines suggest touch, skin-elasticity, and the layered structure of skin. The pattern also serves as a versatile visual asset, adaptable for packaging and supporting materials.
The logotype features custom-designed uppercase lettering. I chose a semi-bold weight to strike a balance between presence and refinement — bold enough to hold its own on product packaging, yet not so heavy as to feel overpowering.
I applied a subtle radius on the outer curves of each letter to soften the overall appearance, giving the type a more approachable, human quality. Every character has been carefully proportioned and spaced to ensure visual harmony and balance.
