No setup cost: Platforms like Shopify say it is free to setup leading to people assuming it won't cost them anything.

Sure, they don't charge you, but unless you're very computer savy, it's unlikely you're going to be able to set it up yourself.

Affordable plans in NZD: Unless you're selling large volumes of high profit goods and use all the extra features like POS integration, you'll get absolutely CRUSHED by eCommerce plans priced in USD.

As of the time of this article the USD is 70% higher than the NZD. So when you multiply that on their very expensive plans - it's an awful expense to have to cover before you can actually make any money. And although the exchange rate fluctuates - it will never be in your favour if you're in New Zealand. 

Free to Roam: Most eCom platforms trap you in, you cannot leave their system or their fees. We know some people don't realise this because we get asked to help move Shopify sites to our hosting facility, but it's not possible.

This means you're at mercy to pay whatever they decide without any alternative choice.
