Built on our own system
A lot of web agencies build on WordPress. We don't. We built our own content management system, Web Edit Pro, entirely in-house — and it's one of the things our clients genuinely appreciate once they start using it.
WordPress can be powerful, but it comes with a lot of maintenance overhead: plugins that need updating, security patches, things that break when something gets out of sync. Where are you based?
We're based at 205 Durham Street in the Christchurch CBD. We've been here since 2003, and we work with businesses across Christchurch and Canterbury as well as clients throughout New Zealand.
Can we meet in person?
Yes — for Christchurch clients, we're happy to meet in person at our Durham Street office to talk through your project. Most of our day-to-day communication happens by phone and email, but it's always good to put a face to a name, especially at the start of a project.
How long does a website take to build?
Most standard business websites take around 4–8 weeks from our initial briefing through to launch. The biggest factor is usually how quickly we can get content and feedback from you — the more responsive you can be, the faster we can move. Larger or more complex projects such as e-commerce platforms or custom web applications may take longer.
Do I need any technical knowledge?
Not at all. We'll explain everything in plain English, guide you through what we need from you, and make sure you're comfortable with how to use your website once it's live. Most clients are making their own updates confidently within the first session.
Can I update my own website?
Yes. All Activate websites come with access to Web Edit Pro, our in-house content management system. It's designed to be simple and intuitive — you won't need a developer every time you want to change a photo, update your pricing, or add a new page.
